No Loading Bay? No Problem

In the UK, not every delivery goes to a fancy warehouse with a raised loading dock. Half the time, your goods are going to a small unit on an industrial estate, a high-street shop, or a building site where there isn’t a forklift in sight.

If a haulier turns up with a standard trailer and no way to get the goods to the floor, the job is a “failed delivery” before it’s even started. At Chadkirk, every single vehicle in our fleet is fitted with a tail-lift. We make sure we have the gear to get your goods safely to ground level, no matter how awkward they are.

The Right Lift for the Weight and Size

The Heavy Duty Stuff (Up to 3.5t)

For the really heavy jobs—like industrial plant or metal fabrications—we use 3.5-tonne cantilever lifts. These are the big boys of the tail-lift world, giving us the power and stability to handle loads that would snap a normal lift.

Long Platforms for Oversized Loads

If you’re moving industrial doors or long window units, a short tail-lift is a safety nightmare. We use 2.2m and 2m platforms so your product sits flat and safe while it’s being lowered.

The “Workhorses”

Our 18-tonne and 26-tonne trucks come with 1.5t / 1.5m lifts as standard, while our Luton vans have 500kg lifts for nipping into tight town centres where a big rig won’t fit.

Ending the “Aborted Delivery” Bill

The biggest waste of money in UK transport is the “Aborted Delivery” invoice. This is what you get when a truck turns up but physically can’t offload the goods.

Our Promise: Because we have every size of lift—from 500kg to 3.5 tonnes— with the right information provided we can get the job offloaded. We save you from the cost and the embarrassment of a failed delivery by making sure we have the right kit for the job, first time.

Moving the Unmovable (Pump Trucks & Skates)

Electric Powered Pump Trucks

We take the manual graft out of the job. Our electric jacks allow our drivers to move heavy pallets smoothly and safely, even on slight slopes, without risking any damage to your goods.

Extended Forks for Awkward Shapes

For wide or extra-deep pallets, we use lengthened forks. This ensures the weight is balanced properly so the load doesn’t tip or drag on the floor.

Machinery Skates

If you’re moving something truly awkward that isn’t on a pallet, we use heavy-duty skates. This allows us to “drift” heavy equipment into position without scuffing your customer’s floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of tail-lift vehicles do you provide?

We offer a versatile fleet to suit every delivery environment:

  • Tuck-away Tail-Lifts: Ideal for standard pallet deliveries and multi-drop work where space and speed are key.
  • Heavy-Duty Cantilever Lifts: These form the entire rear door of the vehicle, providing a much larger, sturdier platform. These are our “big hitters” for oversized equipment or heavy machinery that won’t fit on a standard lift.

What is the maximum weight you can offload via tail-lift?

While many operators struggle with heavy pallets, we are equipped for the job. Our specialist cantilever lifts can handle weights up to 3,000kg (3 tonnes).

Do you have equipment to move heavy loads once they are on the ground?

Yes. To ensure safety and efficiency, we carry Electric Pallet Pumps on our specialist vehicles. These allow our drivers to effortlessly move loads from the lift to your delivery point, even over slight inclines or across larger sites where a manual pump truck would fail.

Can you handle “kerbside” deliveries in restricted urban areas?

Absolutely. Our tail-lift fleet is perfect for city centre deliveries, hospitals, data centres, and retail high streets where there is no loading bay or forklift on-site. We provide a complete “ground-to-floor” solution, ensuring your goods are offloaded safely and positioned exactly where you need them.
